Your best plans, ambitions, and intentions are too small, even foolish in comparison to the plans, ambitions, and intentions God has in mind for you! Are you willing to pursue the plans of God, which may not always make sense to you? Are you ready to submit your plans, your dreams, and your hopes to the God of all wisdom? God has plans for you – good plans for a hope and a future! (see Jeremiah 29:11)

So often I find myself running around in circles, trying to figure out the next step, or conjuring up really good ideas and plans to fix a problem, or make something happen the way I think it should. According to 1 Corinthians 1:25, the best human plans we could come up with, will still be nothing compared to God’s plans for us!

This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. 1 Cor. 1:25 NLT

So what are we to do? How do we walk in God’s wisdom, and best plans? Take a step back one verse:

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Cor. 1:24

How do we know God’s plans for us? All wisdom and power have been given to you in Christ Jesus. I have been reading Psalms 27 lately. I am not going to write it all down for you here, so go look it up later! The chapter begins,

The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Ps. 27:1 NLT

Isn’t that good?! God is our light, salvation, and fortress. As we begin to step out in faith to pursue His plans for our lives, remember that there is nothing to fear or be afraid of. God lights your way, gives you revelation and wisdom, you are his beloved child, and he holds you safely.

The chapter continues by saying that evil men may try to destroy you, there will be attacks, but even if you were up against an army, you can have confidence in God. Then, THEN! the writer says this:

The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple. Ps. 27:4 NLT

Here’s where your thoughts might be tempted to say, “WHAT!? An army [of creditors, sickness, fears, hopelessness, shame…] that wants to destroy me is at my front door, and I’m supposed to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD!?” This is where the human wisdom vs. God’s wisdom part comes in. My biggest struggle when faced with a conflict or a problem is to try to figure it out all by myself. God’s design is that we run to him with our lives, every part, and in gazing upon his beauty, things change. We are changed into his likeness. Circumstances change. We find solutions to problems, and God’s help.

My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” Ps. 27:8 NLT

What an amazing gift you and I have to run right to the living God, every single day, to talk about anything, and everything! If you are facing something huge, or it’s just an ordinary day, be sure to seek God, listen to his wisdom, and receive his love! In the process we will begin to see how God wants to partner with us in this life!

love,
