You and I were created with the awesome privilege of incubating the seeds of God, planted in us through intimacy, that give birth to God-life on this planet. We were created, like God, to bring forth his life wherever we go.
God has a pattern for how he works with and through us. This pattern is also how he created us to operate, as we bring his life to our world. I am not writing about this ‘pattern’ as a step-by-step guide to get what you want. I am breaking this into a ‘pattern’ to shine light on how Christians naturally fulfill God-given assignments. Remember that all God-life is birthed through God-relationship! Focus on knowing God more, letting him work in you, and obeying his Word; fruit will be the result.
OK! Let’s dive into God’s ‘blueprint’ for life! The first ‘step’ is Vision:
[26] Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” [27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26-27
VISION
God first saw in his heart a being made in his image and likeness.
God had in his heart a vision for to create you and I, and that we would represent his character and nature everywhere we went. Think about what it means to represent someone. Inherent in the idea of representation is authority. Authority to speak and act on another’s behalf and the responsibility to clearly portray God’s character and nature.
The Bible tells us that in faith we are to reach into spiritual realms to take hold of things that are a reality and bring them back to earth. Everything that Heaven is, and that Jesus paid the price to restore, are ours in Christ! Our job is to get with God, see what is in his heart for our families, neighbors, and cities, and take hold of those realities in faith. What does it mean to take hold of spiritual truths in faith? It simply means that we believe who God says that he is, and we believe he will do what he says he will do, and act accordingly. As we spend time with him, and look into his Word we see that God’s desire is for people to be free, to know love, to have hope, to be whole in body, mind, and spirit – and he provides the way for all of that.
This is how life in God’s Kingdom works: we must first see who God is, what his vision is for our world, what he has provided, and reach out in faith to take hold of it.
God wants to partner with you today! Our job is to get with him, see what is in his heart, and begin to . . . well, that’s for next time! How do we find out what is in God’s heart? First, believe that God WANTS to reveal himself to you and trust his voice and leading in your heart as you build relationship with him.
- Read God’s Word: God’s heart for his people is so beautiful, from creation to sitting with your morning cup of coffee – God is so jealous for your love. We need to be reminded of this by reading God’s Word daily!
- Talk, and Listen, to God: Prayer is communication with God… communication is a two way street! God is a fun, loving, even funny personality, and he wants to hang out with you!
- Ask the Holy Spirit for Revelation and Wisdom: Simply asking the Teacher to Teach me has opened up God’s word to me in incredible ways! Just ask, in any situation, for God’s perspective, purposes, and revelation!
- Worship God: Spending time being thankful and lifting him higher than anything else positions us to hear and know the secrets he wants to reveal!
