If you are just diving into this blog for the first time, Welcome!

This particular blog is part of a series called In God’s Image. I am going through some ideas about what it means, and why it matters, that we are made in God’s Image.
Here’s where we’ve been so far:

In the beginning God: Creates, Shapes, Forms

I woke up this morning with such excitement to write about the creative capacity that God has placed inside of us! In the last blog we saw that God’s pattern begins with seeing what is possible, getting the vision of what could be. Just seeing God’s heart and desire for our lives, families, and communities is so exciting! Yet, there is more!

You, not animals, were created to represent God’s character and nature to this world. You were creativitydesigned to uniquely carry God’s image as you walk this earth, no other created thing was designed with the specific purpose God placed on humanity! How you manifest God’s image in this world is completely unique to you!

In the beginning God created… (Genesis 1:1)

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

… the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)

God CREATES

This word, create, is the Hebrew word bara’ which is a word unique to describing how God creates making something from nothing. Objects of bara’ are: heavens and earth, man, Israel, a new thing, cloud and smoke, north and south, salvation and righteousness, speech, darkness, wind, and a new heart. (Vines Expository Dictionary)

God said “Let there be”: light, ‘sky’, dry ground, vegetation, sun, moon and stars, water creatures, birds, and land animals. Our pattern is to take what we see in God’s kingdom, already created, yet not manifest in our reality, and say, “let there be” a new thing, salvation,  righteousness, and new hearts, to every heart walking the earth. When God said “let there be,” he was proclaiming: “Light! Be Revealed! Become! Exist! Be known to this world the way you exist and are known to me.” To bring God’s reality to our world we must first see what that reality is (vision) then speak that reality to our world.

“God SAID”

The word we translate as said means: to say, speak or utter. It also means to think in one’s heart.  We start by seeing the vision, then we meditate on God’s promise to build faith in our hearts, and finally we must speak out the vision. This word also means to say, to answer, to command, to promise. There are problems in this world, and God wants you to speak out the answer and promises of God that he has placed in your heart! Finally, this word said carries the meaning of intentionality. God always calls things intentionally, and so must we. We must work within the framework of God’s design and purposes, not our own.

What creativity and purpose has God placed in you? I would love to hear!

Much love,
